Hello every one. A few weeks ago I stumbled upon a gem of a book, The Handbook of Spiritual Tools, Reaching Beyond the Challenge to Find the Solution, by Lauren McLaughlin, Unity Minister. I could not put it down and heard myself pondering, “If only I had read this book 40 years ago when I began my journey in Unity” I got so exited about the practical applications of this awesome and very well writen book that I have decided to make it into a Sunday series. I have begun to use these tools in my own life; and believe me, they DO work. Join me this Sunday at 10 AM at our church or join us live on Facebook. You can find the link at the bottom of our website, www.unitychurch.com. Ruby Mercury makes her debut as our guest soloist.
I like to share a story about a spiritual master and his student. They were taking a very long walk, I mean several days. The walk was supposed to be in the silence, but the student kept interrupting by asking, When will I know that I have arrived at a place of enlightenment like you? Every time, the master remained quiet. Every few hours the student would ask again, with the same results. Finally, they had to cross a river that was shoulder height deep. Without warning the master grabbed the student by the neck and held his head under water. You could see the students arms splashing trying to come up from the water but the Master held him there for a long time until the Master finally let go and the student came out for air. Why did you do that? You almost killed me. What was the thing you wanted most when you were under the water?, the master asked Of course, I wanted air, the student replied. The master said to the student……….I will tell you at the end of the lesson tomorrow at 10 AM. Angie will be our guest vocalist.
The Journey Continues
Last night, before I turned off my light to go to sleep, I said to Alinda, my loving wife, I don’t know whats’s going on but I am feeling sad.. That was quickly replaced by, maybe not, I am just feeling anxious about everything that is going on and starting radiation soon. Alinda came closer and snuggled up next to me and we just remained quiet for at least 15 minutes when I felt that I was ready to drift into sleep.
That’s all I needed at that moment; No words were spoken. But just feeling her warm embrace brought me a sense of peace and of knowing that everything is going to be alright.
As I continue through my healing and restoration, and as I prepare to receive the Radiating Beams of Healing and Restoration Light (my term for radiation) I am reminded of a word that my fellow minister, Miguel Corales, uses all the time: Solo Dios (Only God)
I must remind myself of one of my core beliefs and that is that God is Omnipresent. I must know that with all my mind, with all my heart, with all my soul. Richard Burdick, wrote a song that goes, “There is no you, there is no me, there’s only God that I can see. There is no us, there is no them, there’s only God, Amen.
We humans have invented the concept of duality, when in fact, every cell of our bodies is the intelligence of God individualized in each of us. As I continue my journey I must see God individualized in everything, including my present condition, my doctors, my treatments, every decision that is made on my behalf, etc. I remain steadfast on the affirmation, I am Life, I am Health, I am Wholeness. It is my Divine Nature.
Those of you that are supporting me with prayers, please do not beg or beseech a god outside of you. Get in touch with the God of your being and embrace an attitude of gratitude knowing beyond any doubt that I am whole and well. “My faith has made me whole”
I close with this verse from Acts, 17, 24-28
The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
When I was growing up, there was a Bible story that for some reason struck a positive chord in me. It was about two brothers that were walking from Jerusalem to their hometown, a place called, Emmaus. They were sad about the fact that Jesus had been crucified. As they walked and discussed the events, a “stranger” joins them and begins to teach them about everything that was supposed to happen according to Scripture. When it was getting dark, the “stranger” is invited to spend the night, which was customary at the time. When having dinner, the “stranger” broke the bread and at that time the brothers recognized that it was the resurrected Jesus that had walked along with them. At that moment, Jesus dissapeared . This beautiful story has some very specific applications for us today. Come and join us at 10 AM. Ishtar will be our guest vocalist.

When Jesus told the paralytic by the Pool of Bethesda, (John 5:2-23) “Get up, pick up your mat and walk”, was that a simple command to end the 38 years that the man had sat by the pool? Or can we infer something much deeper in that phrase, something that we can apply to our everyday lives? It’s Time to Flip your Mattress is the title of this Sunday’s March 11 lesson. I look forward to seeing you at 10:00 AM. Angie Aldarondo will be our vocalist.
Someone once said that “Inspiration without action amount only to entertainment.” Yes, it is important to take action and we see this very clearly in all the stories that we read about in scripture. Before most of the miracles of healing that Jesus performed, there was some action that was taken before the healing actually took place. Let us explore, how specific action can move us in the direction of our dreams. See you at 10:AM
We all have heard the phrase, mind over matter at one time or another. In a nutshell, it means that our minds have power over outer circumstances. Yet this Sunday, I will propose to you that the phrase, Mind over mind (upper case and lower case are intentional) not only makes more sense, but it has a much practical application whether we are seeking to express wholeness, harmony or prosperity. I look forward to seeing you Sunday at 10. On the way to church, please only go through clear intersections.
How did Myrtle Fillmore’s healing from tuberculosis actually happen? Does anyone know? Was it overnight or was it the result of mental paradigm shift?
These and other questions that can bring about healing will be discussed this Sunday. Ishtar will be our vocalist.
