The Divine Paradoxes Oct 21

In Unity we say and teach that God is Unchanging Principle and a Personal Loving Presence; that sounds like paradox to me. We say and teach that God is Immanent and Transcendent; that’s another paradox. We refer to God as Father and Mother; yet another paradox. We also say that God is Law and also Grace. These are all Divine Paradoxes which I’m going to try to make some sense out of them this coming Sunday, Oct 21.  Join us live on Facebook at 10 AM at  or at and look for the Facebook link

Spirit and Power. Not Man Behind The Clouds Oct 14

Tomorrow’s message will be an attempt to do something that is totally impossible. And I am talking about defining what most believers call, God. Whether we are talking about Spirit, Divine Mind, Christ, Higher Power, Sacred Omnipresence, after tomorrow’s lesson, you will have, I hope, a clearer understanding of what God is, how it operates in your life and how to use it in order to manifest blessings in your life, in the life of others and in the world we live in. Liberty or Bondage: Your Choice – Oct 7 on Facebook Live

If we really think about it, we are all looking for a Promised Land. Whether that promised land is a fulfilling relationship, health of mind and body, peace of mind or financial prosperity, we all want to escape from whatever it is that has kept us in bondage and has not allowed us to exercise our full potential. This lesson will be based in the first chapter of Lessons in Truth by Emilie Cady. There is something about that book that most people that read it not only experienced a transformation in their lives but they got on their way to knowing the Truth that eventually set them free. Free from what, you may ask. Well, free from thinking that you were stuck with the cards that were dealt to you at birth; that perhaps you had to suffer from the same physical condition that “ran in your family”; maybe you were raised believing in a human and punishing God. Only you and the ones that have been freed can answer that question. One thing is very true, once you have read Lessons in Truth, every now and then you will yearn to read it again, and again. Recently one of my first students, called me in tears because she had just picked up the book from her shelf and remembered how her life had been transformed. Naturally my own tears of joy followed. You have a choice to experience liberty or bondage, Which is going to be? Join me this Sunday on Facebook at 10 AM. I will be live-streaming from New York City. I look forward to share with you why Lessons in Truth is such a life-transforming book. Remember, Sunday, October 7 at 10 AM (EST) at

Continued Flow of Good for You

In medicine, there is a condition called, Obstructive Sleep Apnea. The person that suffers from it has episodes during sleep of interrupted breathing which results, among other things in not achieving a deep and restful sleep plus other possible serious consequences as well. Sleep Apnea occurs when the airwaves are obstructed. The condition  is helped with what is called a Continued Positive Air Pressure machine, also known as CPAP. The flow of positive pressure allows the patient to breath freely and uninterruptedly.

So what does this have to do with us or where I am going with this?  Well. When we believe in God’s Omnipresent Good, we can expect that good to continuously flow in and through our lives, UNLESS something is obstructing that flow.  I have devised  a special kind of CPAP for our mind that will guarantee that good and only good will flow in and through us.  To find out what this CPAP is, join us tomorrow on our Facebook live broadcast. You can find the link in our web page at, or by going to The broadcast begins at 10 AM. You may always watch it later.

New Beginnings: New Address

Every now and then, important events, conditions and situations take place that end up changing or at least modifying the course of history. We are about to commemorate such an event that took place 17 years ago. Nothing has been the same since that infamous day on September 11, 2001.

However, there is one and only one thing that remains intact and that never can or never will change. And that is God’s Omnipresent Spirit in the midst of all.

Regardless of how a particular event ends up affecting us, God is always there guiding us towards our perfect good. By surrendering our egos to this truth, we prosper, we heal, and we rejoice in the knowing that In God we live, move and have our being.

After 15 years of traditional Sunday ministry, Unity Center for Positive Living is transitioning to a new model of spreading the wonderful Universal Principles of practical Christianity and spirituality. Effective immediately, our services will be only streamed on our page on Facebook. Soon we will make specific announcements about classes, webinars and live gatherings in Seminole County, Florida. In the meantime, we have changed our US Mailing address to 5415 Lake Howell RD #248, Winter Park, FL 32792. That is the address to use if you have been supporting us through your financial institution. Our PayPal address remains the same,

Hope to see you soon in virtual reality.

Join us live on Sundays at 10 on our Facebook Page.

Love, and Love Well July 15

I have always felt a deep connection with Jesus’s greatest commandment found in Matthew 22:36-40 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself”. However, one day while listening to an audio book, the author made an impactful statement that has had me reevaluating my interpretation and practice of this important commandment in my life. Adyashanti’s, statement to “love and love well” has caused me to explore new depths on how I actually love God, my neighbor and myself. So far, my findings, experiences and revelations practicing “love, and love well” have been and are of great significance to me. I will be delighted to share them with all of you on Sunday July 15, 2018. In the meantime, be at Peace! Love and love well,

The Missing Link of Scientific Prayer July 8 With Power Point

SLides 1 to 10

Slides 11 to 23

Good morning. It is so good to be back. I really miss being here Sunday after Sunday, but as many of you know I have been taking care of my health and following not only my inner guidance but also the guidance of medical professionals. Sometimes, those two may appear to contradict each other but when you apply the principles of scientific prayer, everything begins to become clearer and clearer.  In terms of a health report, I am feeling well and strong. I am being responsible while undergoing chemo and thats the reason while I am staying away from my work a the hospital and crowds in general. I had already scheduled some guest speakers for the rest of the month but our medical plans changed. Those speakers will be here, but I might be here as well helping out. Anyway, enough about me and let us get into today’s lesson, which I have entitled, The Missing Link of Scientific Prayer.

During the last two weeks, two of my favorite people and speakers were here. Paul Hasselbeck mentioned a concept that I have never heard before and it was straight out of  a lecture that Charles Fillmore gave almost 100 years ago.    As a way to review the very basics of scientific prayer, this is what Myrtle FIllmore, the co founder of Unity had to say:

(PPT) WE ARE STUDYING spiritual science to get a broader conception of God, rather than holding to the view that He is a personal being with parts like man, a being subject to change and capable of varying moods. Though personal to each one of us, God is IT,” neither male nor female, but Principle.

(Fillmore, Myrtle, How to Let God Help You, p. 19)

Paul, with his inquisitive mind, wondered how people in the early years of Unity, experienced so many healings and so many called miracles, and decided to inquire at the Unity School of Christianity archives and came up with this unpublished statement by Charles Fillmore, the co-founder of Unity:

(PPT ) God only does what man says He shall do. God is our servant. Did you ever think of that, that this wonderful Spirit of God, out of which everything is made is here at all times, is always present with us and we are using that God.

(Lesson I, Healing Conference, 1923, pp. 28 – 29)

I can see how a statement like that may have raised some eyebrows back in 1923. Even today, it is raising some eyebrows, maybe right here, right now. Just to think that Spirit will do what we want Spirit to do. I sincerely hope that this will end up making some sense to all of us.

Until now, we have had this kind of subservient attitude of asking God to use us. When you think about it, that implies separation and not oneness.  Lets put that on hold for a moment.

From Mark’s talk last week, a couple of things stuck in my mind. He spoke about the second coming and he spoke about the heart.

In Unity metaphysics when we talk about the first coming of Jesus Christ, we are talking about getting an intellectual understanding of the truth. When we talk about the second coming we are talking about incorporating that intellectual truth into our hearts and therefore into our whole consciousness. We no longer have to think about it. We own it, we feel it and we act from it.   Mark spoke about the heart being more than an organ to pump and circulate blood and referred to it as a type of a brain, which has been proven scientifically. The biblical writer knew this when he wrote in the King James Version of Proverbs 23, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he”  To the biblical writer, the heart was more than a physical organ, it was your entire consciousness – Transplant Story –

So, we have two things we are dealing with here. We can use God, and all God’s powers and we utilize our hearts to accomplish that.  First let me narrow down this concept of scientific prayer a little bit. Let’s define it like a transaction between the petitioned (God) and the petitioner (us).

The petitioned:  As a starting point, the definition of prayer as given by Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of Christian Science is a great help:   (PPT )”The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God,-a spiritual understanding of Him, an un-selfed love” (1:1). The heart of this definition is the omnipotence of God, to which “all things are possible.” But what is God? The same author defines God as “Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love” (465:10). Whenever we wish to be conscious of the definite nature of God we are helped by substituting these seven synonymous terms for the term God. (The Science of Prayer, Mark Keppeler)

Now when it comes to us, or the petitioner, here is what I call the missing link. I believe that we have been conditioned to relate to God from our EGO or our personality and in that sense, we have been praying TO GOD instead of praying FROM GOD. And this is not new; Eric Butterworth wrote about that a long time ago.

In the Revealing words Charles Fillmore writes about seven conditions for effective prayer. I am not going to go but into one of themand that one is this:  (ONENESS WITH GOD MUST BE ACKNOWLEDGED)

Let’s explore this a little further. Think about it. Let me share what Max Kappeler has to say about this in the book, Scientific Prayer:

(PPT) The petitioner is not a person. Can we, as persons, pray to the impersonal Principle, God? Can a personal ego attain the divine Being, commune with it, be one with it? As the Principle of prayer is spiritual, the petitioner must also be spiritual. The physical, material, corporeal man is completely unlike the spiritual. Neither a saint nor a sinner can, as a person, be a true petitioner. “Now we know that God heareth not sinners…” (John 9:31)

Before anyone throws something at me for daring to use the word “sinner” in a Unity church, let me remember that that word simply means a sense of separation; it is not a bad word and it does not have to have the guilt baggage that tradition has attached to it.

Kappeler continues to say that only the divine in us can pray and that Divine oneness is only possible when the petitioner is of the same nature as the petitioned.

The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans:

(PPT) Romans 8:26Living Bible (TLB)

26 And in the same way—by our faith[a]—the Holy Spirit helps us with our daily problems and in our praying. For we don’t even know what we should pray for nor how to pray as we should, but the Holy Spirit prays for us with such feeling that it cannot be expressed in words.

The gist of this lesson is that we cannot approach our indwelling God. The word approach itself implies separation. So, let’s forget about “approaching”  I am going to give you some steps, tat I have been using lately.

  1. Set aside a time of uninterrupted contemplation, and prayer. (No timers, no cell phones)
  2. Become centered by breathing into your physical heart space, literally. Remember that the heart is the LOVE CENTER and Spirit is Love
  3. Acknowledge the presence of God everywhere including in you.
  4. Forgive anything that needs to be forgiven
  5. Use statements that will remind you of your Oneness with the Divine:
    1. God is, I am
    2. I and the Father are one
    3. I am created in Gods Image and Likeness
    4. Christ in me, the Hope of Glory
    5. Keep going back to these statements until you feel a Spirit to Spirit Oneness and Connection
    6. See yourself enjoying the object of your petition or prayer
    7. Remain in the silence
    8. Let go and release it to Spirit
    9. Give thanks

Next week, Rev. Carmen Venus Baerga will be back. She is brings quite a new perspective on the theme of loving your neighbor and yourself.

Blessings to all and keep the prayers going

Integrated Faith

Integrated Faith.

Good morning journal, Good Morning all that bless me by reading my musings. Today I woke up with the term “Integrated Faith” in my mind. I do not recall reading it anywhere, but I may have. But the fact is that, Integrated Faith is my mind.

The first thing that I must make clear is that the object of my faith is not a human deity with human-like characteristics. The object of my faith, I call Omnipresent Spirit, Source Energy, Ultimate Creator, Divine Spirit, Love, Substance and All-ness. It depends on my mental and spiritual demeanor at the time, which of these names I choose to use at any given moment. Nevertheless the name I choose does not change the nature of Spirit because Spirit is Unchanging Principle Presence and Power.

For the most part I get my definitions of faith from Scripture and from the writings of Charles Fillmore. For me, both definitions complement each other, one (Hebrews 11) creates a foundation, while FIllmore show its practical application. Here they are:

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Heb 11:1 KJV)

Faith is the perceiving power of the mind linked with the power to shape substance (Charles FIllmore, The Revealing Word)

I encourage you to read or revisit the whole 11th chapter of Paul’s letter to the Hebrews. It gives example after example of how the exercise of faith was responsible for “impossible” tasks to be performed or for “invisible” things to come into visibility.

Now, the Scripture prefaces all these accomplished feats with the phrase, “By faith”. What does that really mean? Or even more, how did they get things done “By faith” ?

Well I believe that here is were Integrated Faith comes in. I do not think that these people sat around doing nothing waiting for some sort of magical power outside of them to take care of business. I think that they must have had quiet moments in which they integrated their belief in God into their mental musings and processes. They did not have the distractions that we have today. They have time to think, pray and meditate, and integrate their faith.

As individuals that grew up believing in an anthropomorphic god, we developed blind faith, which, by the way, is better than no faith at all. But my faith integrates Mind, Soul and Body. That is why Fillmore’s definition makes so much sense to me. In this model, our mind and it’s perceiving power is linked with the power to shape substance.

Now, that last part, requires explanation particularly for those not familiar with Unity’s use of certain terms. Substance, from the latin “sub stare” literally means that which stands under, or the underlying Cause (capitalization on purpose) of all things. Now, the power to shape that substance, is the Creator of of the Universe. Now, let us remember what Paul, the Apostle, says about that Creator.

“For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ (Acts 17:28)

“Having our being in God” means that not only we are not separate but that God works through us. And what part of us does God use to perform God’s mighty works? Our Mind. When we acknowledge God as Divine Mind working through our individual mind, incarnation (from the latin, in carne, or in the flesh) takes place. We are no longer subject to the limitations of the external world regardless of the nature of those limitations, because for God, all things are possible.

Now lets have a practical application. Earlier I mentioned that one of my favorite ways of addressing Spirit, is Divine Omnipresence, or Omnipresent Mind. If there is something in which most Christian and Non-Christian religions seem to agree is that God is everywhere present. My friends, everywhere means E V E R Y W H E R E, including the minutest cells and molecules of my body. Not only God is present there, but all God attributes, of perfect Love, Light Wisdom, Strength, Unlimited Supply are also there.

When my body experiences anything less than the perfection that God is, is because at some level I have failed to recognized that “The Father and I are one”. All I need to do is through a process of forgiveness, denial and affirmation, and like the Prodigal Son, return to my Father’s house. In that state of awareness, all that the father has, perfection, wholeness and health, are mine.

The application here is that, even though, I have utmost respect for the medical profession, they can only assist the healing that has been initiated in every cell of my body by the indwelling Intelligence of the Great Physician in which I live, I move and I have my being.

A Visible Manifestation of Spirit

In Whom We Trust – Sunday, May 20

The subject of “trust” can be a tricky one. Somehow, it is difficult for us to trust God, particularly when facing challenging conditions or situations. However, for the most part we have no qualms trusting doctors, pharmacists, engineers, teachers or anyone responsible for our safety and well being. We even trusts that motorists will obey stoplights and stop signs (something that I constantly advise against) so we can go through a clear intersection. This Sunday as we continue to explore the book, The Handbook of Spiritual Tools: Reaching Beyond the Challenge to Find the Solution, by Lauren Mc Laughlin, we will explore, Trust as a spiritual tool. By the way, I plan to share some very good  news as well. I hope to see you at 10 AM. God Bless.Continue reading“In Whom We Trust – Sunday, May 20”
